新年快乐!! Happy 牛 Year!!

Yep yep! Its the very 1st day of the Cow Year! Was busy packing and cleaning my room up til yesterday evening but managed to eat a wonderful steamboat dinner with my family in between at home. :) Now it's 初一 and I'm just waiting to go to my aunt 's place for visiting in the afternoon.

This CNY has me in a mixture of feelings..my mom recently started having nose bleeds again and just went to hospital for her checkup last week. She will only get results for the checkup this Thur. Now can only hope and pray that there is nothing serious... In the meantime, we all trying our best to take her mind off the issue and enjoy the Chinese New Year! 加油! 加油! It's really during a crisis like this that make you really treasure your family time together. Wish me all the best! :)

Here's wishing all my friends a wonderful Chinese New Year!! 祝你们身体健康! 心想事成!

Factory sales factory sales here I come!

Got a link to this really useful blog:
http://tualobang.blogspot.com from Iris (my colleague). I came across a Bengawan Solo factory sale that was happening just near my house in Woodlands so thought of going there to check it out. In addition, I also saw a banner near my house recently for a Bee Cheng Hiang (美珍香) factory sale in Senoko too and was contemplating which one to go to.

I mentioned this to Lay Kheng while we were having dinner on Fri and she gamely said she would accompany me to Bengawan as she was previously working in that area and knew the area better than me.

So to make the long story short, me and Lay Kheng went to both factory sales in the end. The Bengawan Solo one was not that fantastic bc the discounts were not a lot, abt 10% so I decided to check out the Bee Cheng Hiang one after that. I felt the discounts there were better bc the offers were more. E.g. their bak kwa had about $4discount per kg.

For both places, we took buses 964 & 169 from Woodlands interchange, went back there and changed bus again, but we realised both places travelled along the same road in the beginning, could hv changed bus halfway haha..As usual, I bought so much stuff Lay Kheng had to help me carry 2 big bags (total 4 bags) back to Woodlands (so pai seh) and I took a cab home from Woodlands after that haha..Hmm, so really wonder whether I saved $ by going to factory sale or spent more money bc I felt the offers were good...haha.. overall, felt it was a nice experience, long time never go this kind of sale liao.

For those of you interested, both sales are on until 24 Jan. You can find details (and print out $2 voucher for Bengawan Solo) from the Tualobang.blogspot website while the details for Bee Cheng Hiang factory sale are given below. :)

Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea!!

Helped out from 1-7 pm at Suntec City for the C3A 50+ event for the elderly. Actually it was an event for lifestyle and healthy living but we were invited to have a few employers there to interview whoever was looking for a job. Bad choice lor, the only thing we were really busy with was distributing calendars and brochures of e2i so that our colleagues on duty on Sun (yes it was a 2 day event :P) didn't have to lug them back to the office..Our poor 7 employers even worse, most of the time swatting flies there.. sigh...

Anyways, after my duty, the highlight of that day was watching the movie "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea" with my sister at Plaza Sing. We watched the 9.55 pm show as Shuyun (my sis) was working part-time til 8 pm.

We both enjoyed the show tremendously! Ponyo is so cute and the boy Sōsuke is really mature and 懂事 too! In the end, I liked the show so much, I wanted to find the theme to put on my HP (downloaded the song earlier). However, couldn't seem to find any theme of ponyo in Zedge.net so thought of creating my own. However, felt that the zedge website thememaker wasn't so good so went to ownskin.com to try it out.

Wow, they really had a lot more functions in their thememaker than zedge so started doing the ponyo theme there. Wah, not easy lor, bc you had to make sure that the pictures you copied were small enough and yet clear enough for your hp screen size. Somemore there were so many options to choose from in the end I also blur.. :P
So this my final product below:
http://www.ownskin.com/theme_detail?t=v2pCRSko

I felt quite proud of my end product bc I took a few hours to do it haha..do you think it's nice? ;) In fact, when I last checked, my theme has been downloaded 14 times by people liao leh..quite proud that people find it nice enough to want to download it. :D

Happy New Year 2009!!

Wow, can't believe that the new year is already upon us! 2008 seems to have passed by really quickly (don't remind me, getting older again haha..). Seems like it was just few months ago that I said goodbye to my dear EDB colleagues but it has been nearly 1 year already! I started work at NTUC on 14 Jan 08, time really flies.

From all the news recently and announcements, 2009 is going to be a tough year for all. I'm also mentally preparing myself for more work to come as we need to help all the people who are getting retrenched and lose their jobs in this recession. Hopefully we will have new schemes to help them and they also realise the seriousness of the economy crisis. What I'm seeing now is that not all of them realise the seriousness and are still quite choosy abt the jobs they get.

Anyway, Chinese New Year is coming soon! Time to do big housecleaning again! Haha..those of you who know me know it's no easy job to pack my room haha.. I have arranged for the Salvation army to come collect stuff on the coming Mon so it's "kampate" time this weekend!

New Year resolution: Keep my room tidy and keep my blog updated! :)

Btw, has anyone seen the upcoming "Ponyo On the Cliff" Movie? Think its going to be a nice show and wanna watch it soon.

Wishing everyone a Wonderful New Year! :D
